Year 1: I have a life … right?
Hello! So I got a comment from jpnm …
“Wow, sounds like UoP is pretty rough. Do you actually get to have any time for yourself (rest, relaxation, hobbies, etc.?), or are you on the go 24/7?”
Yeah, like I said in my last post, I actually didn’t anticipate how rigorous UOP would be. My days run from 7AM to 12AM. Currently, I’m in the library studying (and ummmm….. blogging) for my first set of finals next week. Us first years, just had our 2nd practical in operative. I passed =) … 2 for 2 … and yes I’m gonna brag because I’ll get the wins in where I can.
I’ve definitely had to do some tailoring of my time. For one, my blog’s gone a bit stagnant because all my time goes into studying or the sim lab. I get in some going out time but it’s a balancing act. I don’t want to burn out from studying 24/7 so I do try to get out and enjoy my youth. However, if anyone makes it out here for interviews, you’ll hear the students tell you, it’s a personal thing. If you want to specialize, it’s study all day, everyday. And for those who have other priorities in mind, well they’ll be doing that. About hobbies, I made it out to the rock climbing gym right before school started but haven’t been in since. I was biking to and from school right up until the past week because I’ve been swamped with exams. Last week, the first years had a test/quiz/exam every day. That was brutal and apparently, second quarter is worse. I mentioned next week is finals week. It’s going down something like this: Monday is regular school with an exam in the afternoon, Tuesday is a study day, and Wednesday (2 finals), Thursday (2 finals) and Friday (1 final). But I have gone out with classmates so it’s not like I’ve been holed in the library every single day.
Okay, back to studying.
Nose, meet your old friend, grindstone … =)
